Forming Noun In English 2

  1. Add '-s' to the most singular noun.
    example: book (singular form) to books (plural form).
  2. Add '-es' to singular noun with last letter is '-s', '-ss', '-ch', '-sh', '-x', or '-z'.
    example:
    • gas (singular form)
  3. Add '-es' to singular noun  ends in a consonant followed by '-o'.
  4. Add '-s' to singular noun ends in '-oo', '-io', '-eo', and '-yo'.
  5. For singular noun ends in a consonant followed by '-y', the plural form is created by replacing the '-y' with '-ies'.
  6. Add '-s' to singular noun ends in vowel followed by '-y'.
  7. For singular noun ends in a '-f' or '-fe', the plural form is created by replacing the '-f' or '-fe' with '-ves'.
  8. For most nouns that end with –f or –ef, you just add –s to form the plural version.
  9. For singular noun ends in '–us', the plural form created by replacing the '-us' with '–i'.
  10. For singular noun ends in –is, the plural form created by replacing the '-is' with '–es'.
  11. For singular noun ends in '–on', the plural form created by replacing the '-on' with '–a'.
  12. Add '-s' to the base word of singular noun with Compound noun form.
    example:
    • mother-in-law (singular noun) to mothers-in-law (plural noun).
    • step-son (singular noun) to step-sons (plural noun).

    * Find the plural form of the point 2 example and then practise saying both of them ( singular form noun and plural form noun ). Also write down in your exercise book.
